Looking Back, Looking Forward

This adventure first began back in December of 2012 when I was 10.

It all started when my dad realized that I needed to get my thoughts out somehow and figured a website were I could blog would fit the bill. I started writing and fell in love with it.

I tried my hand at whatever I felt inspired to write, which turned out to be a vast variety of subjects, anywhere from what I was reading in the Bible, to lessons I had learned in my day-to-day life.

Hardly anyone besides my family read the posts, but I wasn’t bothered much. To me, blogging wasn’t about how many people liked my writing, but whether I wrote what God wanted me to and if I was growing.

After contentedly writing on my own little blog for about 4 years, I started to seriously consider trying to get published on bigger websites. I finally worked up the courage and submitted to The Rebelution and The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, getting published by both after a few tries.

These years have been a season of great growth and discovery. I would not trade them for anything. God has done amazing things through this blog. He’s used it to grow my writing skills and to prepare me to write for a much bigger purpose than my 10-year-old-self could have imagined.

When I wrote that first paragraph and hit publish, I had no idea what the future held. Today I don’t have any more of a clue where the path ahead leads, but I do know that God knows. That is why I’m not afraid to follow where He is leading me.

Today marks the beginning of a new path for this blog. There are going to be some big changes in the way we do things.

Our mission is to help kids engage in politics in a God honoring way.

That’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re going to take a new approach, and bring this blog to the next level. We’re going to…

  • Be a voice for young people in the political realm.
  • Provide news from a biblical worldview at a child’s level.
  • Train young people to effectively share their faith, and participate in the political realm.
  • Challenge young people to live differently by boldly following God.
  • Provide answers to questions that young people face about Christianity and the Bible.

There are a lot of exciting changes in store for ACBPAK over the next few months. They will help us reach more kids to help them better engage with the culture. I’m excited to see what God does in the next months and years. Knowing Him, it will be good.
